We’re in the final countdown until the wedding! Next Saturday can’t come quickly enough. Today, I’m going to share some skin care products that I’ve been using lately that have been a real game changer for my skin.
*I may make a small commission from items purchased using the links below. I would never, however, share a product in a blog post that I haven’t personally tried and loved. Rest assured that all of my opinions and thoughts on these products are 100% my own and not influenced.
A skincare brand called The Ordinary has been all over YouTube and social media lately. I was drawn in by its transparent ingredients lists and an unbelievably low price point. I decided to give it a shot, and have been SO happy with the results so far. It hasn’t even been a week, and my skin is completely transformed. I know things like this don’t happen over night, and my skin still has a long way to go. But, for now, I am THRILLED with my results.
WHAT I BOUGHT
Full disclaimer, this stuff looks like straight up blood when you’re applying it, and it does tingle quite a bit, but my stubborn hormonal acne scars have faded and my skin’s texture and clarity have improved since using this little guy. A little goes a long way, and you only use it twice per week, so the bottle should last a long while.
I haven’t experienced any lasting sensitivity while using the solution, and am able to continue the rest of my skincare routine with only slight tingling. The peel itself does tingle quite a bit, but not too much to where it’s unpleasant to use.
It contains glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acids to exfoliate the outer layer of skin, plus aloe and a host of other great ingredients. It’s free of all the nasty stuff, and at only 7.20 for a 30mL bottle, its basically less than a Taco Bell order and does WONDERS for your skin.
Niacinamide, AKA Vitamin B3, reduces everything from imperfections to congestion. I have seen an incredible difference in my cheek and forehead area since using this, and my breakouts that I had been fighting for weeks cleared up. I’ve also noticed a reduction in the darkness of my acne scars, which have been stubbornly hanging on for YEARS (I’ve tried probably thousands of dollars in skincare, treatments, and facials to no avail).
I’ve also noticed that I’m getting less oily throughout the day without looking dry. My skin is glowy and clear without being a complete oil slick.
You’ll pay 5.90 USD for a 30mL bottle, or 10.60 USD for a 60mL. A few drops will do, but work quickly or in sections because I have found that it dries up quickly.
I’ve been a loyal user of Glossier’s Milky Jelly Cleanser. It’s been the first step in my cleansing routine since I knew double cleansing was a thing. Then I found The Ordinary’s Squalane Cleanser and haven’t looked back.
They’re comparable in price when you buy the 150mL tube (19.90 USD vs Glossier coming in at 18 USD for 177mL), but I just feel like it works SO much better at removing my makeup to the point that on my lazy nights, I don’t have to use my second cleanser (bad, I know).
You put a little pea sized dollop on dry hands and rub in your palms to warm it up. The consistency transforms and becomes almost a face oil. Rub all over your face and it literally dissolves the most robust of makeups. I’m not really sure what I did before this and hope I never have to live without it.
I decided to take a chance and order some makeup from The Ordinary after using Glo Skin Beauty for a few months. I have to say I’m really shocked at how much I enjoy this. It feel super smooth and fills in my fine lines and pores nicely without making my skin look dull.
I use it along with the Foundation Serum (which I also LOVE, it’s not sold at Sephora but you can get them here on The Ordinary’s site. This one isn’t an affiliate link), and find that I get such a better blend and coverage than when I wear the foundation with other primers.
I’ll keep you guys updated on how my skin does with these products! I’m no professional, but I do try to pay attention to what I put on my skin. Stay tuned!
